I just look at it more like a toy or a good intro amp as opposed to an "amp" amp, like you couldn't gig with it the way you could with a Katana or GTX. The recording for the GTX is 16-bit, Spark and Katana are 24-bit and they all have apps.įor the price, and for what its trying to be, its definitely not bad, and they're still doing updates for it so that's good. Its like the same thing, but it has about 3x more amps and pedal models, and its 50w and it has a big Celestion speaker instead of the 4-inch speakers like the Spark. I almost ordered a Spark but instead I spent like a month researching it and eventually got a Fender GTX for $120 more. But if you're considering getting one you should really look at the alternatives/competition because the "small digital/modeling/SS practice amp that you can record with" has a ton of options right now: Katana, Yamaha THR, Fender Mustang/GTX, Line 6 Spider V, etc. Obviously they spent a lot of money on "influencer marketing" and it actually worked and they built up some hype for it. Seeing that shit all over youtube made me so cynical. perhaps even moreso with amps that are mobile device dependent, which usually lean more into an "in the cloud" storage approach. So yeah, definitely a legitimate concern with these types of amps. If they disappeared the Tone app and resources the way they did with Fuse, I don't know that the amp would be very usable at all. Given Fender's abandonment of Fuse, that made me way more nervous about investing time and energy into that amp. ![]() I myself own a really nice sounding Super Champ XD that I put a Ragin' Cagin in and a Roland Micro Cube that I really like for late night playing, so I'm no. 20 years ago, I played in bands with folks who used Line 6 Spider amps that were fairly good at modeling. Great amp, but in the short time I owned it, I never saw a way to independently back-up my configurations or saved tones. I've had tube amps since 1973 and all kinds. ![]() I also had the Mustang GTX-50 which worked via a bluetooth connection to an Android/IOS device. I've got a G-Dec 3 Thirty and a Mustang I v2, and while Fender no longer supports the Fuse app and removed the forums and patches from their site, the app still works on my Win 10 box, and I've found a lot of resources online from folks who had stuff backed up and made it available via various websites and facebook groups.
